Beaver Anthem
Author: Mike Milner
Tune: Silver Threads Among the Gold
Put a Beaver tail upon my chest,
Make me one of Gilwell's best
Nine great patrols will test today,
But only one — wins the Beaver tail.
We came to camp to learn to lead
And to learn the Gilwell Creed
With great leaders to guide the way
We all must say — it's been okay.
When we arrived we knew no one
Six other guys with the same surprise
We learned our name, then found our camp
We must admit, it was pretty damp.
We formed a bond as hard as nails
With Gilwell style and Gilwell tales
No other group has passed the test
And we did this all, with so little rest.
When we depart this Scouting land
We hope someone will lend a hand
To place a tail of Beaver pride
Upon the back of my son's hide.
Put a Beaver tail on my son's chest
Make him one of Gilwell's best
Nine great patrols will test today
But only one — wins the Beaver tail.
